music「welcome to the north」2004
デビュー直後からグルーヴがすごいと評判で、バンド名の傲慢さもまたよし！のmusic、たしかにグルーヴはすごいんだが、ボーカルのrobの金属的な声がどうも好きになれなくてあまり熱心に聞いてませんでしたが、この2ndには心をわしづかみにされました。いままでmusicの曲ってマイナーコードが多かったと思うんだが、robのよく通る声ってメジャーコードの曲に意外とよく合うじゃん！！！robの声揺るがないから、高らかに宣言するタイプの曲にすごくいい！楽曲としても荒削りだった1stよりもいい意味でまとまってきてて、上質なポップミュージックに仕上がってると思います。1stよりずっとずっとずーっと好き。1stのが2ndよりいいバンドって割ととっとと解散しちゃう危険度が高いので（stone rosesとかkula shakerとか...ということは1stが素晴らしいkasabianは危険？！・笑）、2ndのがいいというのはバンドとして長続きしそうでいい傾向なのでわ。お気に入りはM8「into the night」。たぶんこのアルバムのなかで鍵になる曲じゃないし、内容もこいつだと信じてたのに裏切った恋人への訣別宣言っていう単純なものなんだが、静かな、でも決して揺るがない強力な意思にぐっとくる。他はM4「breakin'」、M7「guide」、M11「open your mind」。来年1月のライブに備えて、ほっぽりにしてたシングルも全部揃えて予習中（笑）。
